Phillis Wheatley writes to her friend, Obour Tanner, a servant to the Tanner family of Newport, Rhode Island, 19 July 1772, about her health and religious concerns.  It is not certain how Wheatley and Tanner met, but they corresponded for a number of years, and seem to have shared an interest in evangelical protestantism.
